Protecting Children: Psalm 91

Protecting Children: Psalm 91

We do so much in the physical to keep our kids safe and protected from harm.  The spectrum of measures we take is broad and ranges from making sure they get regular check-ups, reducing their sugar intake, and making them drink more water, reminding them to buckle up to teaching them how to swim, teaching them about stranger danger, showing them how to cross the street, teaching them and how to dial 911.  We want our kids to be safe.  We want them to be protected.  In the spiritual we can also take the same measures.

It’s a great thing to consistently pray over and for your child (children).  God’s word (rhema) is active and alive.  It’s the creative power that brought all creation into existence and it’s the same energy that holds all of creation together today.  You can’t go wrong in praying His word faithfully over your child (children) because it will manifest in their lives.  The Bible has so many powerful and awesome prayers that literally change atmosphere and situations even in the toughest of circumstances.  These prayers create environments of peace, protection, safety, blessing, happiness, and joy.  A very powerful prayer is Psalm 91.  When you pray this prayer of safety in the abiding presence of God His mighty angles will immediately surround them and stand guard in protection!  As we Labor in love for our kids in the physical let us also do the same in the spiritual.  Here’s the For My Child version of Psalm 91.

A Covering of Protection

All our children dwell in the secret place of the Most High and abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Our children will say of the Lord, “He is our refuge and our fortress;  Our God, in Him we will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver our children from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover them with His feathers, And under His wings our children shall take refuge; His truth shall be their shield and buckler. Our children shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at our children’s side, And ten thousand at their right hand; But it shall not come near our children. Only with their eyes shall they look, And see the reward of the wicked.

Because our children have made the Lord, who is their refuge, Even the Most High, their dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall our children, Nor shall any plague come near them dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over our children, To keep them in all their ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear our children up, Lest our children dash their foot against a stone. 13 Our children shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent they shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because your children have set their love upon Me, therefore I will deliver them; I will set them on high, because they have known My name. 15 They shall call upon Me, and I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble; I will deliver them and honor they. 16 With long life I will satisfy all your children, And show them My salvation.”
